THERE IS/THERE ARE

1. Quando si usano "There is" e "There are"?
In inglese, "there is" e "there are" si usano per dire che qualcosa esiste o si trova in un determinato luogo.

• There is si usa con sostantivi singolari o non numerabili.
• There are si usa con sostantivi plurali.

2. Struttura
Forma affermativa:

• There is + sostantivo singolare/non numerabile.
  • There is a book on the table. (C’è un libro sul tavolo.)
  • There is water in the bottle. (C’è acqua nella bottiglia.)
• There are + sostantivo plurale.
  • There are two cats in the garden. (Ci sono due gatti in giardino.)
  • There are many people at the park. (Ci sono molte persone al parco.)

Forma negativa:

• There isn’t + sostantivo singolare/non numerabile.
  • There isn’t a chair in the room. (Non c’è una sedia nella stanza.)

• There aren’t + sostantivo plurale.

Forma interrogativa:

• Is there + sostantivo singolare/non numerabile?
  • Is there a pen on the table? (C’è una penna sul tavolo?)
  • Is there any milk in the fridge? (C’è del latte nel frigo?)
• Are there + sostantivo plurale?
  • Are there any apples in the basket? (Ci sono mele nel cesto?)
  • Are there chairs in the living room? (Ci sono sedie nel salotto?)
