Past Simple (Affermativa, Interrogativa, Negativa)

​1. Quando si usa il Past Simple?
Il Past Simple viene usato per:

1. Azioni completate in un momento specifico nel passato:

I visited Paris last year. (Ho visitato Parigi l'anno scorso.)

1. Eventi in sequenza nel passato:

She woke up, had breakfast, and left the house. (Si è svegliata, ha fatto colazione ed è uscita di casa.)

1. Abitudini o situazioni passate (non più vere):

I lived in London when I was a child. (Vivevo a Londra quando ero bambino.)

2. Come si forma il Past Simple?
​a. Forma affermativaLa forma affermativa del Past Simple dipende dal tipo di verbo:

• Verbi regolari: si aggiunge -ed alla forma base.
  • work → worked
  • play → played
• Verbi irregolari: cambiano forma, quindi è necessario impararli a memoria.
  • go → went
  • eat → ate

Esempi:

• I watched a movie yesterday. (Ho guardato un film ieri.)
• She went to the park. (È andata al parco.)

b. Forma negativa
​La forma negativa si forma con did not (didn’t) + verbo alla forma base.

Esempi:

• I didn’t watch TV last night. (Non ho guardato la TV ieri sera.)
• He didn’t visit his grandparents. (Non ha visitato i suoi nonni.)

c. Forma interrogativa
​La forma interrogativa si costruisce con Did + soggetto + verbo alla forma base.

Esempi:

• Did you visit London last summer? (Hai visitato Londra l'estate scorsa?)
• Did she finish her homework? (Ha finito i compiti?)

3. Parole chiave comuni con il Past Simple
Alcune espressioni temporali che spesso si usano con il Past Simple:

• Yesterday: ieri
• Last week/month/year: la settimana/mese/anno scorso
• In 2005: nel 2005
• An hour ago: un'ora fa

4. Esempi
Forma affermativa:

• I studied for the exam yesterday. (Ho studiato per l'esame ieri.)
• They played football last weekend. (Hanno giocato a calcio lo scorso fine settimana.)

Forma negativa:

• We didn’t watch the news last night. (Non abbiamo guardato il telegiornale ieri sera.)
• She didn’t go to the party. (Non è andata alla festa.)

Forma interrogativa:

• Did you call your friend? (Hai chiamato il tuo amico?)
• Did he buy a new car? (Ha comprato una nuova macchina?)
